A R Quinton 1920s
in 1839 a huge section of the cliffs at Dowlands slid seaward. The scene soon became a major attraction with special events laid on by the local inhabitants to winkle cash out of the curious.  The Undercliffs still attract visitors because the cliffs, heavily overgrown, are a haven for wildlife and plantlife.
